The City of Ancient Rome:
The city of Rome was the capital city of the civilization of Ancient Rome. It was located near central Italy.
The city of Rome started out as a small and lonely city with not much people but as the years past the civilization grew as well as the population.The population has increased so much that at one point there was almost over the population of 1,000,000 people.
Founding of Rome:
Rome was founded by the 2 half-god twins named Romulus and Remus. on April 21st, 753 B.C.
Wjen they found the area of Rome. Each wanted to build it on two different hills, Romulus wanted
Palatine Hill while Remus preferred Aventine Hill. Since they both wanted two different things, they agreed to wait for a sign from the gods.
Romulus went ahead and started building around Palatine Hill. Remus got jealous and started to tease Romulus. Once it got out of hand, Romulus couldn't take it and killed Remus.
With Remus dead Romulus continued to work on the city. Therefore Romulus founded the city of Ancient Rome officially on April 21st, 753 B.C., named himself king and named the city after himself.
The Seven Hills:
The city of Rome was built on seven hills. Those seven hills were called: Aventine Hill, Caelian Hill, Capitoline Hill, Esquiline Hill, Palatine Hill, Quirinal Hill, Viminal Hill.The city was originally founded on Palatine Hill.
The Forum:
At the center of the city and Roman public life was the Forum. This was a rectangular plaza surrounded by public buildings such as temples of the gods and basilicas where commerce and other public functions could take place. Many of the city's major events took place in the forum such as elections, public speeches, trials, and triumphal processions.
